A Day in the Life of an Office Dog: Celebrating Bring Your Dog to Work Day with Webbox

If you’re reading this on Friday, 20th June 2025, congratulations, you’ve made it to the best workday of the year: Bring Your Dog to Work Day! And in true Webbox style, we’re celebrating properly… by handing over the blog to someone with four paws, a very strong opinion on biscuits, and zero understanding of Outlook calendars.

That’s right, today’s blog is brought to you by one of our canine colleagues, who’s here to give you the inside scoop on life as an office dog. From early morning tail wags to post-lunch zoomies, here’s what it’s really like working a day in the Webbox office (with plenty of treats, of course).

Morning Routine: Sniffs, Cuddles, and Settling In

First things first, when I arrive at the office, it’s time for my grand entrance. I make sure to greet all my colleagues with a wag and a nudge, and in return, I get loads of cuddles and kisses (they don’t greet each other like that, so I must be the favourite, obviously). Once I’ve made my rounds and sniffed absolutely everything and everyone, we head into the morning meeting.

Now, I won’t lie, I don’t contribute much to the agenda (unless someone drops a biscuit), but I like to spend this time exploring my surroundings and getting used to the day ahead. It can take me a little while to settle in, especially if there are lots of new smells and sounds, but that’s okay! I usually bring a blanket or my bed from home to create a cosy, safe space. It helps when the office feels a bit different from my usual comfy spot on the sofa. What can I say? I’m a homebody with high standards.

Mid-Morning Mischief: Snacks, Smells, and Secret Recipes

The rest of my morning is go, go, go. I’m terribly busy with some extremely important tasks like taste-testing top-secret Webbox treats (don’t ask, it’s classified), joining coffee breaks for my well-earned puppuccino, and perfecting my “please share with me” face while my colleagues eat their lunch. Honestly, with all those delicious smells floating around, can you blame me? Sharing is caring, after all.

That said, not all hooman food agrees with me, sometimes it’s just not as tasty (or tummy-friendly) as my beloved Webbox favourites. So, to avoid any snack-related drama, I always bring my own packed lunch: a bowl of my usual grub and a cheeky Tasty Stick on the side if I’m feeling fancy. It keeps me full, happy, and out of my colleagues’ sandwiches. Win-win!

Afternoon Zoomies & Team Motivation

After all that snacking (and a very persuasive treat face), I’ve usually built up enough energy for my favourite part of the day: midday zoomies. This is when I take it upon myself to lead by example and encourage my colleagues to step away from their desks for a quick burst of fresh air and playtime. Whether it’s a walk around the building or a speedy game of fetch, I’m basically the office wellbeing coach.

Let’s be honest, humans spend far too long sitting at desks. I like to think our daily zoomie session gives them the perfect excuse to stretch their legs, smile a bit more, and enjoy the sunshine. And once we’re back inside, everyone’s feeling refreshed, recharged, and ready to dive back into work (while I resume my important job of napping under someone’s chair).

Office Etiquette (Yes, Even I Have Rules)

Now, just because I’m adorable doesn’t mean I get away with everything. I do my best to follow all the strict office rules, even if it’s tough sometimes! I try not to sniff anyone without permission, I respect personal space, especially from those sneezy colleagues (I’m not taking any chances with catching whatever they’ve got), and I absolutely do not use that quiet corner of the office as a toilet. That’s what the big tree outside is for, classy, convenient, and far less awkward for everyone.

It’s important for all of us four-legged coworkers to be calm, well-socialised, and not disruptive, especially if there’s more than one pup in the building. After all, we’re representing the canine community, and I, for one, take that responsibility very seriously.

Going Home: Tired but Happy

After a long, gruelling day at the office full of snacking, walkies, cuddles, and keeping morale sky-high, I’m well and truly ready to head home. Being this cute is a full-time job, after all. By the end of the day, I’m usually feeling a little tired (and maybe a bit overstimulated), so once I get home, it’s straight into wind-down mode.

I curl up in my bed, take a few well-earned extra naps, and enjoy a peaceful evening to recharge. Because tomorrow? Who knows, there might be more treats to test.

Back to You, Humans…

While it’s been fun seeing the day through a dog’s eyes, Bring Your Dog to Work Day is about more than wagging tails and cheeky snack-stealing; it’s about the bigger picture. This special day encourages businesses to embrace pet-friendly workplaces that support mental well-being, reduce stress, and create calmer, more connected office environments.

It’s also a brilliant opportunity to support dog welfare charities doing vital work behind the scenes. By donating to causes that help improve the lives of dogs across the UK and beyond, we can all make a real difference, one paw at a time.

So, whether your furry colleague was in the office today or cheering you on from home, take a moment to celebrate the joy they bring. And don’t forget to share your pup-at-work pics using #BringYourDogToWorkDay
